BUYING GUIDE

How to compare smartwatches

Choose a smartwatch by phone compatibility, battery expectations, health features, GPS use, comfort and subscription costs.

Compatibility is the first filter

Some watches work best only with a particular phone ecosystem. Check required operating-system versions and whether key features are limited on other platforms.

Battery life changes the experience

A watch that needs daily charging can still be excellent, but it requires a different routine from a multi-day sports watch. Compare battery claims under the features you will actually use.

Health features are not interchangeable

Heart-rate tracking, ECG, temperature sensing, sleep analysis and recovery metrics may have different regulatory status and availability by country. Verify the feature you care about in your market.

GPS matters for outdoor training

Runners, cyclists and hikers should look at GPS consistency, route tools, offline maps and battery life during long activities rather than just the number of supported sport modes.

Include subscriptions in total cost

Some advanced insights or coaching features may require a paid plan. Compare the ongoing cost, not only the watch price.
